Ink Review: 50 Cent Montblanc Royal Blue

Pen: Lamy Safari Medium
Paper: Rhodia #18 Grid Lines, Georgia Pacific 75g, Hammermill 90g, Sustainable Earth by Staples
Thank you for reading my review of Montblanc Royal Blue. Also, thank you bearing with me while I figure out what i'm doing here.  Enjoy
I picked this bottle of Montblanc Royal Blue up at a garage sale for 50 cents. What I knew about this ink was that it was the old bottle style. What I didn't know is that this bottle was "Made in W. Germany."  So I was pretty excited to have something   old and kind of historic in my collection. What made the find  even better was that the ink was still usable.
Montblanc Royal blue is a nice blue. Very well behaved and perfect for work and play. I found that I really liked this ink even though it may not be as vibrant as some other blue inks I own. I am planning to pick up a sample of Montblanc Royal Blue from somewhere to compare the old and new to see if there is any difference.
Here are some thoughts:
  • Flow: Great, had now issues.
  • Saturation: This is a nice medium blue.
  • Shading: I had some. This ink Shades a little darker blue on Rhodia and copy papers. Did not see have very much shading with the Staples Sustainable Earth paper.
  • Dry Time: great dry times with all paper.
  • Show-through and Feathering: I had a little show-through and very little feathering with copy paper.
  • Waterproofness: Mostly waterproof!
