Ink Review: Noodler's Apache Sunset

Pen: Kaweco Sport Medium
Paper: Rhodia #18 Grid Lines, Georgia Pacific 75g, Hammermill 90g, Sustainable Earth by Staples

I have been on the fence about trying Noodler's Apache Sunset for some time. So, when a friend picked up a bottle and offered me a sample to try out I jumped at the chance to test it out.

I really enjoy orange inks. They are bright and have lots of character. Noodler's Apache Sunset has so much character to it and I love it a lot.  But I enjoy orange inks that are brighter something like Diamine Blaze Orange or Sailor Jentle Apricot. Noodler's Apache Sunset set makes me happy when I write with it but I think I will pass on picking up a bottle of it.

Here are my thoughts:
  • Flow: Great had no issues.
  • Saturation: This is a nice medium yellow orange.
  • Shading: Holy Cow Batman does this ink shade!
  • Dry Time: long at least 15 seconds.
  • Show-through and Feathering: Apache Sunset did better than I thought. I had little to no feathering on the copy paper but feathering was present with the Staples Sustainable Earth paper. I had lots of show-through on the 75g copy paper and the Staple Sustainable Earth but very little with the 90g copy paper and none with Rhodia.
  • Waterproofness: Not great.

Thank you for reading!
