Ink Review: De Atramentis Black Roses

Pen: Delta Serena Medium
Paper: Rhodia #18 Grid Lines, Georgia Pacific 75g, Hammermill 90g, Sustainable Earth by Staples

De Atramentis Black-Roses is part of the De Atramentis scented inks line. Unlike their Frankincense ink I have used and enjoyed this one was a stinker... literally.  I'm not a big fan of black inks. I tend to use more blue and blue-black inks, so I went into using this ink with a bias. De Atramentis Black Roses is not a super saturated black like Aurora Black or Noodler's Black. It's almost a dark grey. Black Roses is a very slow drying ink and made it difficult for me to use for quick notes. It does have some waterproof qualities and that does seem redeem it a little for me. But the smell of this ink is just overwhelming to the point I had a hard time using it. I had to stop using it for a couple of days because the rose smell is so overpowering. It's not nearly as subtle as De Atramentis Frankincense. I will try some of the other De Atramentis scented inks down the road but this one is going on my do not touch list.
